Stupid Genius
Producer/Composer/Songwriter/Artist
Stupid Genius has a distinct sound that fuses acoustic & vintage analog instruments, heart-pounding riddims, heavy southern-drenched percussion, and dramatic synthesized melodies. His sound evokes both vintage and futuristic emotions, woven with the heavy impact of composer/producer, and has worked with several independent and major-label recording artists, producers, and songwriters worldwide, and is currently the in-house producer for Orlando-based indie label, South Coast Records. He began his classical training in piano at the age of seven, which led to the study of violin and trumpet. This training includes three summer sessions at Interlochen Arts Camp in Interlochen, MI. By age 14 he was a self-taught bassist and guitarist. By age 17, he learned to DJ on Technics turntables and remix songs utilizing basic sampling techniques and drum machines. Eventually all skills became integrated and applied to the art of songwriting, beat making, and production through usage of the MPC2000 and eventually Pro Tools and Logic Pro. Additionally, he grew addicted to writing verses and hooks while in class, freestyle rapping with those close to him, and singing along to every reggae chant and riddim he could get his hands on. The overall sound continues to flourish through passion, inspiration, and constant refinement. After developing a large catalog of both instrumental and vocal productions, Stupid Genius has placed numerous songs resulting in more than 150 placements in various TV productions and films on the following networks: MTV, VH1, BET, Bravo, E!, Style Network, Oxygen, The History Channel, A&E, TLC, The Golf Channel, G4 Tech TV, and ESPN.com in the U.S., and has also placed music on international networks in Canada, Mexico, France, New Zealand, the UK, Brazil, Czech Republic, Finland, and Romania. Television credits include (but not limited to):
Additionally, his music has been featured on documentaries, web commercials, BMX videos, and on 91.3 WLVR in Bethlehem, PA while co-hosting and DJing a weekly radio show. In February of 2011 South Coast Records released Stupid Genius' first single and video, "Automatic" which can be viewed on youtube.com and is available for download on iTunes, Amazon, and SouthCoastmp3.com. Ajay Muziq
Artist
The development of his style is the result of a lifetime of musical influences. Growing up in a musically talented family meant that Ajay was surrounded by different forms of music. His parents exposed him to a wealth of music, all of which influenced his development. His first foray into learning an instrument himself came when he started to play the piano aged just 4 years old, which he continued with for years before finally picking up a guitar at the age of 12, a decision which he never looked back from. Ajay's musical journey did not begin in North Carolina, however. Born in New York, it was here that he developed his musical tastes and interests, and it wasn't long after picking up a guitar that he was experimenting with rock, followed by alternative and pop, all of which have had a profound influence on the direction his musical journey has taken. After realizing that making music was his main goal, he began to showcase his talent in various locations, playing at numerous school productions, auditions, talent shows and making sure that his name and music were being heard by as many people as possible. He was quickly noted for the unique style that he brought to the pop scene, and his popularity began to grow. As his confidence grew and his style developed, he soon saw a loyal following begin to grow and he became a popular local hit in the Fuquay Varina, North Carolina music scene. His talented vocals with a variety of musical instruments only added to his appeal, and his unique sound started to find an appreciative audience. He is keen to point out that everything he listens to directs his musical development in some way. However, he would certainly include BonJovi, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, The Frey, Jason Mraz and Bruno Mars as amongst his biggest influences. Finally, after honing his unique sound over recent years, he is now preparing to begin working on multiple recording projects with South Coast Records. Visit Ajay at: AjayMuziq.com
